HOW TO WRITE A LETTER TO EDITOR CLASS 12 FORMAT, EXAMPLES AND TIPS

What is a letter to the Editor?

Letter writing is an Art. It is a means of written communication. Letters are of two types- formal letters and informal letters. Writing a letter to the editor is a type of formal letter. Let’s see the format and some examples.

To make your letter effective, follow the below steps:

  • Write the Sender’s Address at the top right margin of the page.
  • Mention the date of the day below the sender’s address.
  • Write the editor’s name or ‘To the Editor’ with his address.
  • Then mention the subject of your letter is about.
  • then give a salutation.
  • In the body of the letter, describe your subject. Remember opening should be attractive and be quick to tell the main purpose of your writing letter to him.
  • Give a complimentary closing.
  • At the end give your name.

Tips for how to write an effective letter:

  • Your grammar should be correct: It is very important to correct your grammar while writing a formal letter.
  • words limits: the word limits of a letter to the editor is 200 to 500 but as you are a student and you are writing a for your examination then 150 to 200 words is enough.
  • Irrelevant sentence: Do not write irrelevant sentences while writing a letter to the editor.
  • Describe your matter quickly so that they do not wait to find your issues, suggestions, or ideas.
  • Your handwriting should be legible so that the reader does not face a problem reading it.

     The government provides funds for maintaining all the government hospitals still the hospitals have become a reign of dirt and decay. Every corner of the hospital is very dirty. The toilet and bathrooms stink. floors are not cleaned regularly. bed sheets remain unchanged for weeks. Common and life-saving drugs, poor patients have to buy from the outside market. Doctors and nurses are corrupted. The doctors do not come according to their schedules if come do not in time. Patients fear going to government hospitals.
     I hope, my letter will get an appropriate place in your esteemed newspaper so that the concerned authorities may take some actions to solve this problem.

    Electricity has become a basic necessity of daily life. The residents of this area suffer many difficulties due to frequent power failures. At night, the students can not study in low voltage or in the absence of electricity. All the electronic equipment is useless without electricity. 
   We have complained many times to the electricity board but no actions have been taken yet.
   We hope, you will understand our problems and may get my letter an appropriate place in your esteemed newspaper so that may concerned authorities wake up to improve the situation.
